# Acceptable use

**Version: 2026-10-21** (the `aupVersion` a signup records; bump `AUP_VERSION` in
`apps/gateway/src/keys.ts` and this heading together when the terms change.)

By creating a Phonebase account you agree to use the service — cloud phones you drive through the API — only
in ways that are lawful and honest. This mirrors the engineering stance in
[PRINCIPLES.md](./PRINCIPLES.md): the phones are ordinary Android, directed by you; we do not build
or condone deception.

You agree **not** to:

- Break the law, or the terms of the apps and services you operate through the phone.
- Impersonate a person or organization, or create fake accounts, reviews, engagement or identities.
- Defeat a site's or app's anti-automation measures — CAPTCHAs, rate limits, purchase or quantity
limits, device or location checks — or disguise the automated, cloud-hosted nature of the phone
  to get around them.
- Send spam or unsolicited bulk messages, or scrape in violation of a service's terms.
- Attempt to break tenant isolation, reach another customer's phones or data, or escape the device
  container.
- Use the service to harm, harass, defraud, or infringe others' rights.

We may suspend an account that breaks these terms. Quotas and rate limits are part of the service,
not obstacles to be worked around.
